MISSIONS AND OUTREACH

MISSIONARIES AND OUTREACH OPPORTUNITIES WE SUPPORT

At the heart of the Global Methodist Church is a heart for missions and outreach! After all, that is what the Great Commission is all about (Matthew 28:18-20). The mission of the Global Methodist Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ who worship passionately, love extravagantly, and witness boldly. Our mission is centered on Jesus. He is the Head of the church. We are His servants, His followers, His disciples. All that we do is oriented toward Him.

As the Body of Christ known as Sandia Fellowship Global Methodist Church, missions is a huge part of who we are, and we endeavor to be the hands and feet of our Lord and Savior as we play our part in carrying out the Great Commission. We partner with the missionaries listed below as well as many other mission and service opportunities, some of which are listed here. This page is currently under construction, so please keep checking back for updates!

  • MISSIONARIES: THE McFREDERICKS

Jason and Kerensa McFrederick, along with their children, Mollyn and Nehemiah, have been serving in the Czech Republic since 2005. They give leadership to Global Partners’ missionaries and national workers across the country. Sadly, the message of communism, “There is no God” still rings true for this post-communist, atheistic nation. The McFredericks are committed to long-haul relationships, living out the truth of Christ with people who have long considered the story of Jesus a mere fairy tale. One by one, people are being transformed by the message of the gospel!

Jason, Kerensa, and their teams work to ignite a movement of discipling relationships and Bible studies so that churches are planted across the Czech Republic. Pray for them and all Czech workers to be actively growing in their obedience to Christ. Please continue to pray for the Czech people to know the truth and be set free! (John 8:32). Sandia Fellowship Global Methodist Church is honored to partner with the McFredericks.

  • MISSIONARY: S.E. COLEMAN

Before foreign missions, S.E. Coleman was in full-time ministry at radio station KAIM in Honolulu, Hawaii, owned by the Billy Graham Association. After her time there, God called her to work in Belize, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Honduras, and Cuba teaching Biblical principles with crafts, making literally thousands of "salvation bracelets." She has taught English in Antigua, worked with the International Prison Fellowship in Colombia, and is currently living full-time in Guatemala sponsoring children and providing for a widow with four children. She is also providing support for about 100 children and 10 adults with food, supplements, and a teacher’s salary. Education has always been important to her as it helps lift people out of poverty. Sandia Fellowship Global Methodist Church is honored to partner with S.E. Coleman.

  • MISSIONARIES: KEN AND AMElia hunter (ywam yosemite)

Ken and Amelia Hunter are missionaries working in Armenia. Their earnest desire through their work is always one thing: to lead people into greater depth in their relationship with Jesus; and the natural result of that is to live like Jesus and worship Him through obedience to Him in their lives. As the Hunters both experienced great redemption, healing and encouragement through their own Discipleship Training Schools as students, they know firsthand how transformative of an experience it can be. Armenia has recently experienced devastating loss and heartbreak; but God is close to the brokenhearted -- and the grief they’re now experiencing is not the end of the story! Ken and Amelia believe that the transformation, healing and depth of relationship with Him that they experienced is also available to the people of Armenia and the surrounding Muslim countries. That is the cause for which the Hunters are committed and the cause for which they are going to Armenia: to see God bring the people of the Middle East to restored relationship with Him, through Jesus and Jesus alone. Sandia Fellowship Global Methodist Church is honored to partner with the Hunters.

  • OUTREACH: KAIROS PRISON MINISTRY

Kairos Prison Ministry International is a lay-led, interdenominational Christian ministry in which men and women volunteers bring Christ's love and forgiveness to over 27,000 prisoners and their families every year. The Kairos programs take the participants on a journey that demonstrates the love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ. Kairos Prison Ministry operates in prisons in 37 U.S. states as well as nine countries: Australia, Canada, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Honduras, Peru, South Africa, and the United Kingdom. Sadly, there are also over 100 prisons worldwide which want the Kairos program, but there aren't enough volunteers or resources to accommodate them at this time.

Sandia Fellowship is heavily involved with Kairos Prison Ministry in New Mexico, participating in "Kairos Inside Weekend" events. This is a 72-hour Christian discipleship event that involves developing long-term relationships, teaching, discussion about the teaching, worship and a lot of laughter over cookies and great meals. Best of all, it is an opportunity for these residents to experience a life-changing encounter with Jesus that is often very powerful and lasting. in 2024, the Women's "Kairos Inside Weekend" was held August 15-18 at the Women's Correctional Facility in Grants, NM, and the Men's Kairos "Inside Weekend" was held October 17-20, 2024 at the Guadalupe County Correctional Facility in Santa Rosa, NM.  Each year we are in need of volunteers to serve on the Inside and Outside Teams: from participating in the 72 hour prayer vigil, making placemats, baking cookies, and more.

Our upcoming Men’s Kairos Weekend #25 on May 1-4 is fast approaching, and while many of you will not be going into the Guadeloupe County Correctional Facility personally, our Sandia Fellowship members who will be going inside are asking for your help. Here are four opportunities where anyone could potentially serve in a way that is vital for the success of this event. Some are easy and some require more effort. I’ll mention the more challenging first:

The first opportunity is to write short letters. Each team member must write a letter to each resident participating in the weekend event. However, anyone can write a letter to a resident and the only stipulation is you must write 18 letters. They are short letters but powerfully used by the Holy Spirit to touch lives. Each resident must receive the same number of letters. If you would like to write a letter, click here for details on how to participate in this opportunity.

The second opportunity involves baking homemade cookies. We will be taking in over 400 dozen cookies and there are specific instructions related to the making of cookies that I am not going to detail here. Sandia Fellowship needs to provide at about 60 dozen homemade cookies for this event. If you want to help bake cookies, please stop at the Welcome Desk on Sunday to sign up and receive baking instructions.

The third opportunity involves making placemats for our meals in the prison. This is a great way for any child, your children or your grandchildren to participate. You can purchase paper placemats at a party store or online and have a child decorate it using crayons and markers. We encourage children to write only their first name and their age on the placemat.

The fourth opportunity to serve is through participating in the 72-hour prayer vigil. We enlist 144 people to pray 30-minute segments that cover the entire event in prayer. Sign-up sheets to pray will be available at our Welcome Desk on Sunday mornings prior to worship.

If you are interested and want more information, please click here and we will have one of our team members contact you.
